Target Announces 3DS Trade-In Discounts

Target Announces 3DS Trade-In Discounts

None

Last month, Nintendo announced that they would be dropping the price on their 3DS consoles to an affordable $170. The announcement came after months of mediocre sales and sparked an odd little pricing war between Target, GameStop, and Walmart. Each of the retailers wanted to be the first to drop the price on the console in order to gather up the early rush of salivating customers. But obviously the retailers can’t just keep pushing the release date infinitely forward, so Target has come up with a clever plan to draw-in potential 3DS owners: they’re hosting a trade-in deal.

On August 12th through the 13th, you will be able to trade your old Nintendo DS for a credit toward a new 3DS system. Remember, Target is dropping the price on the 3DS consoles on the 12th, so the money you receive from your old console will be subtracted form the price of the newly discounted 3DS.

Here’s a breakdown of the credit you will get for each system:

Nintendo DSi XL: $100

Nintendo DSi: $75

Nintendo DS Lite: $40

So, if you decide to trade in the DSi XL that’s been collecting dust behind your bed, you will walk away with a brand new 3DS for only 70 bucks. The deal starts today, so break open your piggy banks.
