What Sony Thinks of Next-Gen Battlefield 4

Battlefield 4 for the current-gen has been received with the usual positive feedback and embraced with open arms by the FPS community. Now, Sony is giving its thoughts on exactly what gamers can expect with its next-gen counterpart on the PlayStation 4.

Social Media Manager Sid Shuman recently posted to the PlayStation.Blog an update regarding a hands on experience with the next-gen version of Battlefield 4 . “On the PS4 multiplayer side, Battlefield 4 boasts an impressive visual presentation, rendering atmospheric lighting and lavish weather effects you won’t see on the PS3 version. The game’s visual variety is a major strength: I waged war across a startling array of environments, from Flood Zone’s waterlogged alleyways to Golmud Railway’s dazzling blue skies and emerald fields. Throughout it all, the multiplayer side zoomed along at or near 60 frames per second, giving the game a brisk, responsive feel that gives the game’s infantry combat a huge shot in the arm,” reads the blog.

The post also features a video with an interview from DICE creative director Lars Gustavsson, where he talks about several new aspects of the upcoming game. One point he makes is regarding the new DualShock 4 controller, stating the shoulder buttons are much more responsive. He also touts the open-ended feel of the game, saying, “We create experiences but we don’t dictate what their supposed to be…it’s up to you.”
