Wii U Titles Pulled From E3

Wii U Titles Pulled From E3

None

If you braved the long line at the Nintendo booth this E3, you were able to get some hands-on time with the Wii U. However, Nintendo made it very clear that everything available to be played on the Wii U at E3 was nothing more than a prototype tech demo. This seemed a little weird considering Nintendo’s press conference showcased some awesome third-party games such as Ninja Gaiden 3 and Darksiders II. So why weren’t they available for play on the show floor?

Well, first of all, the Nintendo press conference was apparently mostly smoke and mirrors when it came to third-party games. Apparently, the footage of Ninja Gaiden 3, Darksiders II, and Ghost Recon Online shown was from games running on the PS3 or Xbox 360. That’s not to say that those games aren’t actively being developed for the Wii U. They are; they just don’t look very good because the current Wii U SDK is underclocked.

According to Hit Detection, many third-party Wii U games were pulled from the E3 lineup because of this underclocking. The report writes “… due to titles not looking much better than what is currently available on Xbox 360 and the PS3, Nintendo decided late in the game to not show those titles and focus instead on tech demos.” Hardware specs have not yet been fully confirmed, and apparently the Wii U has much more to show us before its launch.

So we have good things to look forward to in the Wii U’s future. Still, I would have liked to play Ninja Gaiden with that funky new controller.
