It seems that, if a family has a Netflix subscription, they also have a Wii sitting in the family room, taking advantage of that streaming service. The latest numbers from Nielsen, which doesn’t just cover television anymore, reveal that 33% of time spent with the Wii is used to stream videos, up from the 20% of their time it claimed last year. Nielsen attributes the bump in streaming time to the proliferation of services like Hulu and ESPN3 over various devices, but the Xbox 360, which has been gobbling up these media streaming services, only sees users spending 14% of their time streaming video, up from 10% last year. Sony users come in at 15%, up from 9% last year. Comparing their other figures, the Wii comes out with the highest proportion of single-player time, with users spending 55% of their time playing games in single-player and only 8% online. Single-player statistics for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are 34% and 38% respectively, but Xbox Live dwarfs the PSN, with 33% of game time spent online on the Xbox 360 and only 16% for the PlayStation 3.
