WiiWare Software Update!

WiiWare Software Update!

None

A couple of titles have been announced for a Japanese WiiWare release. Tetris, the block puzzler to rule them all and that set Nintendo on the path to handheld glory, will make its triumphant return on the Wii. This time around the game will concentrate on online play. Up to six players will be able to duke it out from anywhere in the world and it looks like motion controls via the Wii Remote will be an option.

On the kookier side of WiiWare, Namco Bandai will release a title that has gamers popping bubble wrap to victory. The title, Ouchide Mugen Puti Puti, will be available in Japan for 800 Wii points and is based on the top-selling popping toy, Mugen Puti Puti. It seems like a very simple concept, but supposedly the Japanese publisher is making 40+ levels for gamers to enjoy. There’s no word yet as to whether or not the title will make it stateside, but it looks like WiiWare will make it possible for games to be developed at a much lower price point. It may see a lot of third party support after all.
