WoW Gets Free-To-Play Model

WoW Gets Free-To-Play Model

None

When you think about popular MMOs, World of Warcraft is unquestionably the first thing that springs to mind. Though the game is nearly ubiquitous within its genre, there are bound to be some people who haven’t tried it out yet. And for that small percentage of people, Blizzard has adopted a new free-to-play model designed to court the uninitiated gamer.

The latest update, Rage of the Firelands, includes a new mode for those new to the WoW-verse that allows you to play free of charge until you reach level 20, which certainly beats their previous two-week trial periods. The update even lets you play through some of the expansion pack content, so new players will definitely get the “full” WoW experience during the free-to-play period. They’ll also be more likely to shell out for that eventual subscription fee.
