No game is immune to season pass pushing. It’s become a fact of life. On the plus side, sometimes one comes along that actually tells you what will be in it before you order. Firaxis and 2K Games’ XCOM 2 is one of those games. When the strategy game is released next year, you can get an ordinary, basic version or one that includes the season pass.
The XCOM 2 Digital Deluxe Edition is actually rather appealing. In addition to the game, you’ll also get the soundtrack, a Resistance Warrior Pack with a Survivor of the Old War recruit and additional customization options for characters, and the Reinforcement Pack season pass. The season pass includes three add-ons.
The first DLC will be Anarchy’s Children, with rebellion-themed customization options and content. Alien Hunters gives you a new hunting unit, an additional mission involving Ruler aliens, equipment, and customization options. The last pack, Shen’s Last Gift, adds a new soldier class, equipment, and a new mission and map. These will begin being released in spring next year with Anarchy’s Children, and the other two will follow in the summer.
XCOM 2 will be available for PCs in February. There will be a $59.99 standard edition and $74.99 Digital Deluxe edition. If you buy the Reinforcement Pack pass separately, it will be $19.99. So if you go with the deluxe version immediately, you save about $5.
