You Got Your Morrowind In My Skyrim!

You Got Your Morrowind In My Skyrim!

The Elder Scrolls games are a traditionally mod-heavy series, with developers supporting the community’s efforts with a comprehensive toolset post-release. In fact, there’s often more fun to be had in tweaking one’s experience than there is in actually playing the base game. This holds true in Skyrim, for which players are now seeing the buds of one of the most ambitious mod projects in the community: Skywind.

Skywind, created by “eloth,” as he’s known in the mod scene, is an attempt to bring the entirety of Bethesda’s much beloved third Elder Scrolls game, Morrowind, into the Skyrim engine. He hasn’t just been recreating the landscape, either, but painstakingly converting all of the older game’s assets so that they’ll look their best in Skyrim’s exponentially more advanced engine. The results, so far, are absolutely stunning.

There’s no word yet on when he expects to complete this project, but given its scope, prospective players would probably be best served by preparing themselves for a sizable wait. In the meantime, there are gorgeous screenshots to gaze upon!
