Yu Suzuki Says Sayonara In September

None

Though he won’t be cutting his ties with long-time employer Sega entirely, Yu Suzuki is planning to vacate his current position with the company in September, though he won’t be making a clean break. Says Suzuki, “In 2008, I established YS NET, my current company. I’ll be leaving my current job at Sega this September, and after that point, I’ll remain on as an advisor.”

Suzuki previously cut back on his responsibilities in 2009, when he “retired” from his post as creative officer of R&D and stepped down to a management position in the R&D efforts of AM Plus. With this most recent shift, he continues to gradually part ways with the company he has worked for since 1983.

In his over 25 years of employment at Sega, Suzuki has become one of the developer’s most recognizable names. Space Harrier, After Burner and Virtua Fighter are among his classic works, but he is also known for much more experimental fare, such as Shenmue and the multi-screen Ferrari F355 Challenge.
