Zune Steps Aside For Xbox Music

None

Recently, Microsoft boss Steve Ballmer revealed plans for a brand new Xbox service called Xbox Music. It’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like: a music service that, according to Microsoft, will deliver over eleven million songs directly to your Xbox.

“But wait a minute,” you might be saying. “The Xbox already has a music service through Zune!” Well, remember all those jokes people made about no one really owning a Zune? The brand is unfortunately on its way out, and tying the new Xbox music service to the trusted Xbox brand name is probably the best move Microsoft could make at this point.

Xbox Music will be fully Kinect-compatible and will allow users to search for music and manage their music libraries via both motion and voice commands. It is estimated to be part of the new upcoming Xbox 360 dashboard update due this fall—the same update that supposedly will bring Skype to the platform.
