ZuneX: The Microsoft Handheld?

ZuneX: The Microsoft Handheld?

None

It is now rumored that Microsoft is far along the path toward delivering a handheld gaming device. So close, in fact, that photos and specs have already been leaked via German web show, Mimbee.tv.

Naturally, Microsoft is not willing to comment on rumor and speculation, but the following leaked specs (taken from a supposedly legitimate Microsoft PowerPoint presentation) seem to point to a highly competitive multimedia and communication device.

We’re not-so-secretly hoping this is not the Microsoft gaming handheld we’ve been waiting years for — the N-Gage-like design is decidedly bland.  Nevertheless, the specs, if true, are tantalizing if not exactly what we had hoped for either.  Maybe E3 will shed more light on the issue.

Below you’ll find the pictures and the device’s rumored vitals:

  • 32GB flash drive
  • Lithium ion battery with 9 hours of gaming time
  • 4-inch, 640×363 pixel multitouch display with 160 ppi resolution
  • 4 analog buttons–X, Y, A, B
  • 2 shoulder buttons
  • D-pad and optional thumbstick attachment
  • Compatibility with Xbox Live Arcade games and “ZuneX© originals” (sic)
  • Compatibility with the just-announced OnLive game-streaming service.
  • MicroSD slot
  • Built-in Microphone
  • Tray for cell phone SIM chips
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi with wireless Zune-to-Zune sharing
  • Video: WMV, H.624, MPEG-4, DiVX 3.1
  • Audio: AAC, MP3, WMA, WAV, MP3 VBR
