3DS eShop Launches Today; Has Trailers, Will Have Demos

None

Alongside a 3DS system update, Nintendo has launched the much-anticipated 3DS eShop. Early adopters will receive both a 3D Pokédex, which will allow them to gather monster data through Streetpass and augmented reality features, and a digital copy of Excitebike from the new line of 3D Classics, titles dating back prior to even the Nintendo Entertainment System that have been enhanced using the new portable’s 3D capabilities.

Perhaps more exciting than its launch, though, is the promise of what the eShop will become. In addition to hosting downloadable titles and Virtual Console games, the 3DS’ marketplace will be host to game trailers and demos of both downloadable titles and retail games. While the demos will not be launched on the service immediately, the first batch of trailers is available right now.
