A Bare-Knuckle Monopoly

A Bare-Knuckle Monopoly

None

Street Fighter’s characters have become extremely prolific of late. After fading into obscurity at the end of the 90s and being MIA for most of the new millennium’s first decade, they’ve struck back in force in the wake of Street Fighter IV, which re-energized the ailing fighting genre and paved the way for their own appearances in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, as well as offerings from Capcom’s competitors. With Street Fighter X Tekken around the corner, and Tekken X Street Fighter waiting in the wings, the Street Fighter gang seems to be on top of the world.

What better time to put them in a board game? In this case, it’s Monopoly, which has a long history of USAopoly adapting pop-culture icons to its uniquely overly-long, economic melee. The twist? Capcom wants you to decide which characters will be included for play. Over on Capcom Unity, they have a poll running: choose one of the twelve classic fighters and the top six will be turned into figurines for the upcoming Monopoly: Street Fighter Collector’s Edition. Remember: Uppercutting friends who buy Boardwalk is not made acceptable by shouting “Shoryuken!”
