A few years ago, Capcom and Bandai Namco announced their cross project, which would allow Capcom to develop Street Fighter X Tekken, and Bandai Namco to develop Tekken X Street Fighter . Both companies were talking about their respective games quite a bit, until Street Fighter X Tekken came out to a relatively weak reception. At that point, Bandai Namco stopped talking about their Tekken X Street Fighter project and focused on core Tekken titles like Tekken 7.
But, when asked whether or not he forgot about the project at the 2015 San Diego Comic Con, director Katsuhiro Harada was quick to reassure fans that the game is very real. He said that the project is still being developed, and, for that matter, it’s very far into development too.
“It might seem like we haven’t started on it at all, but the character lineup has been decided upon since a very long time ago, and we’ve already finished the polygon models, moves, and systems,” says Harada.
Harada has been busy at work with Tekken 7 , and Pokken Tournament , and is even working on a project for Sony’s Project Morpheus. He also said that since Tekken 7 and Street Fighter V are coming out, but the cross project was based on Street Fighter IV and Tekken 6, the game is coming out at kind of a weird time. Which means Bandai Namco is difficulty deciding when to schedule its release.
