Last year, Activision put together a little Independent Games Competition and ended up giving away $250,000 in cash to a couple of upstart indie developers. Well, it looks like the competition was a big success in Activision’s mind, because today they announced that they are accepting submissions for yet another independent developer’s bout. The rules are fairly straightforward and echo last year’s competition: the developer who takes first place will rake in $175,000 to complete their project, and the runner up will get $75,000. Also, Activision reserves the right to publish the winning games, although the game will remain the property of its current developer.
Last year’s winner was a little shooter/RTS hybrid called Dstroyd! There’s still no word on when Dstroyd! will actually hit the market, but according to their latest blog, they’re still deep in the development process. Developers have until December 31st to submit their entries. So, stop listening to your parents complain about your lack of ambition and go win $175,000. By Josh Engen |
