The first third party game to use Amiibos has been announced. Bandai Namco games has revealed that Amiibos can be used with Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy Plus . Unfortunately, Amiibo functionality will only exist on the New Nintendo 3DS XL, so availability will be limited.
Tapping your Amiibo will give you access to a special plane skinned with an image of your Amiibo character. Mario, for example, will unlock an F-22. Thus far Mario, Bowser, Captain Falcon, Pacman, and Samus have all been confirmed to work with the game.
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy Plus will be released on February 13 on the Nintendo 3DS. The game will feature several other new features that take advantage of the New Nintendo 3DS’s hardware, such as full facial tracking.
