How much can one game grow in popularity in a single installment? If we examine the history of the Battlefield franchise, my guess is quite a bit. EA recently got pre-order numbers in for Battlefield 3, and you would not believe how they compare to the pre-order numbers for Battlefield 2. The game has nearly twenty four times the pre-orders than its predecessor had. Twenty four times, and this is just according to Amazon UK. Imagine what the actual pre-order numbers are when you factor in all the GameStops and Best Buys and even mom and pop shops out there. 
So now we have to wonder if Battlefield 3 will overtake Modern Warfare 3 as this year’s big name shooter. Either way, I’ll certainly be picking up a copy. By Angelo M. D’Argenio |
