Just when you think you’ve seen it all… Sometime in the near future human beings make a technological breakthrough that changes everything: self-delivering boxes. In Unbox you play as, well, a box. You must traverse rough terrain and apparently overcome enemy boxes in your quest to deliver yourself. The game promises an engaging single-player campaign as well as a competitive multiplayer component. Originally this game was exclusively Steam-bound, but publisher Sold Out has announced that the game from UK-based indie developer Prospect Games will also deliver itself to PS4s and Xbox Ones as well.
I know what you’re thinking, because I thought the same thing after watching the trailer: someone was messing around with simple physics demos in the Unreal Engine, and kept adding additional elements until finally they stopped and said, “Holy sh#!, this could be a game.” It does look promising, though, and the music is well-produced and cheerful. Who knows? This could be the breakout indie hit of the year. We’ll have to wait to find out; Unbox will be released sometime later this year. Check out the trailer right here:
