Bethesda Talks Wii U Support, Namco Confirms Nintendo Release

Although they started early, Nintendo has fallen behind in the next-generation arms race, primarily due to a lack of third-party support and painfully slow first-party releases. Although many publishers have expressed mixed and often negative feelings on the Wii U, Bethesda Softworks has now confirmed that they’re still open to Wii U releases.

Marketing VP Pete Hines told MCV that “It’s a number of factors” when discussing the Wii U. “The truth is, it’s not something that we are currently developing for. I don’t know whether that changes down the road or not,” he continued. “It depends on the games that we are making and how think it aligns with that console, and how the hardware aligns with the other stuff we are making.

“We will see,” Hines concluded, leaving Bethesda’s Nintendo involvement at a resounding, if a bit doubtful, maybe.

Luckily, there are still a few big names jumping on the Nintendo bandwagon. Unfortunately, this particular case doesn’t help the Wii U, but a new 3DS title is never bad news, right? Publisher Namco Bandai has revisited their currently in-progress reveal countdown and updated it to read “for Nintendo 3DS.” However, as previously reported , Namco has yet to give any hints to the nature of the IP, but the 3DS detail does eliminate a few contenders.
