Big Destiny Update Goes Live Today

Big Destiny Update Goes Live Today

Destiny seems like a game that’s too big to fail. It’s like the universal online RPG / first-person shooter; no matter what platform you’re playing on (unless it’s PC), it’s likely that your friends play Destiny every now and then, or if not, they at least probably own it. Everyone bought this game at one point or another for two reasons: we were promised a steady flow of new content, and all of our friends were playing it. Now we’ve reached a point where neither of those things is true. For months we’ve been starved for content, and the novelty drought has driven many once-active players away. Today, Bungie hopes to lure them all back in with a massive update.

The update weighs in at about 2 gigs (it varies by platform), and it’s definitely an update. I know that sounds redundant, but what I mean is you’ll want to temper your expectations. Don’t expect to see a ton of new stuff. Instead you’ll be experiencing a lot of the same content in new ways. The light level has been bumped up to 335, and you can get there a variety of ways, upgrading through The Crucible, Iron Banner, Trials of Osiris, raiding, and the Prison of Elders. Prison of Elders got the biggest face-lift with 8 new bosses and lots of new modifiers, but there are a handful of new bounties, quests, and even a couple new story missions to keep you occupied as well.

The update should be live by the time you read this, so hop online and check it out. If you’re old-school, you may want to revisit some of your favorite year-1 exotics and legendaries, as they’ve finally been upgraded. For a full recap of what’s new and what’s fresh, check out the update preview below:
