Released way back in 1990, Gremlins 2: The New Batch made its debut on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), and the Gameboy around the same time the film came out. While the film itself received mixed but positive reviews, the game received much greater acclaim. Citing its puzzles, enemy variety, and marketing of items as key points about the game.
It was published by Sunsoft, who also developed and published titles such as Justice League Task Force, Looney Tunes, and much more!
Gremlins 2: The New Batch Premise
Following the plot of the movie, the Gremlins are back, and it’s up to Gizmo to destroy them once and for all. The invading Gremlins are aiming to take over Camp Tower, and they’re back in far greater numbers. Leading them is the old favorite, Mohawk, and he’s got a score to settle with you.
Gremlins 2: The New Batch Main Characters
Let’s cover those who appear in this game, rather than the ones who appear in the movies.
- Gizmo. The Player Character, and the only good Gremlin to be found. He can learn any skill just by seeing it on TV, which is good because there are a lot of dangerous enemies to be found.
- Billy Peltzer. The other player character if you have the ZX spectrum version. Otherwise, he only appears at the beginning and end of the game.
- Kate Beringer. The second verse is the same as the first.
- Mr. Wing. Gizmo’s former owner, may or may not be a wizard.
- Mohawk. The…small bad guy. Gizmo’s primary rival.
- Electric Gremlin. Once a gremlin, now a being of pure energy! Still dumb as rocks.
- Daffy. Acts a bit like his namesake, and is just as easy to trick.
- Lenny. Somehow, the least dangerous of the lot. Also likes to cook.
- George. And much like that famous story, George here is the sane one of the lot.
- Bat Gremlin. Nanana Bat-gremlin?
- Greta. This one is just creepy.
