Capcom Registers Onimusha Trademark

Capcom Registers Onimusha Trademark

Onimusha was a popular Capcom series that ran from 2001 and disappeared in 2006. Like Capcom’s other series, Mega Man X, fans have been vocal about wanting to see more games in the franchise. Unfortunately, Capcom has remained silent on that front. News, however, may be just around the corner as one NeoGAF user, miku, has noticed that the company has filed a trademark for Onimusha.

It’s important to note that a trademark is far from confirmation of anything. Companies often file trademarks just to make sure their intellectual property is protected in the event that they’ll be using it again. Still, with such a long silence and sudden action, it’s not totally unjustified to get one’s hopes up.

If Capcom is just now filing for a trademark, it seems likely that they don’t have any Onimusha games deep in development. In the best case scenario, Onimusha fans may still have a while to wait before they get a new game.
