Today, CD Projekt streamed their Fall 2011 report, including details on The Witcher 2’s 2.0 patch, the upcoming Xbox 360 version of that game, and a promotional event to celebrate the third anniversary and overall success of the publisher’s Good Old Games initiative. On the subject of The Witcher 2, which CD Projekt is proud to note has sold over one million copies, the 2.0 patch has been announced, touted as a greater enhancement to The Witcher 2 than The Enhanced Edition was to The Witcher. It promises over 40 new technical tweaks and gameplay enhancements, including a new tutorial section, an arena mode, and the new “Dark” difficulty setting. In “Dark” mode, players will not only have new miniquests to complete, but new “Dark” equipment to use, all of it cursed to sap one’s health until an entire set of it has been acquired. Furthermore, the first player to complete the new difficulty mode will receive an as-of-yet unannounced prize from CD Projekt. In celebration of the game’s success and upcoming patch, The Witcher 2 has been permanently dropped to $39.99, with a 25% off sale bringing it down to $29.99 with the release of the 2.0 patch next Thursday, September 29. ![]()
Lastly, CD Projekt’s Good Old Games service is celebrating its third year running with a bundle sale on classic D&D titles, including Neverwinter Nights and the critical darling Planescape: Torment. All games are DRM-free and guaranteed to work on Windows XP, Vista, and 7. Furthermore, as the service is nearing its six millionth download, CD Projekt is promising their full, existing catalog to the individual who downloads the six millionth game (they have a counter running on their homepage). Once they reach that goal, everyone with an existing account with them will have a 48-hour window within which to download Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars Director’s Cut free of charge.
