The Witcher 2 Getting Witchier All The Time

The Witcher 2 Getting Witchier All The Time

None

Today was CD Projekt’s spring conference, during which the RPG developer and digital distribution magnate (which recently expanded their GOG storefront to include more recent releases, in addition to DRM-free, Windows-compatible classics) revealed a wealth of new information about its plans regarding the release of The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition on the PC and Xbox 360.

First of all: there will be an iOS comic, freely available as of Tuesday, April 17 on the iPhone and iPad. Touched up with interactive elements, it tells one of the many stories of Geralt of Rivia, the eponymous witcher of the series’ title.

Second, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition is out on the Mac as of now. Could this be in preparation for a release of The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition on the Apple platform? Time will tell!

Third: No matter what method you used to purchase The Witcher 2, or may use in the future, come the Enhanced Edition, all current and future owners of The Witcher 2 on PC (regardless whether it’s bought through Steam or on disc) will receive a DRM-free copy of the game from GOG, gratis. Also, the Enhanced Edition patch will be available for pre-load as of April 11, due out on April 17.

Lastly: CD Projekt RED is giving away 1,000 copies of The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition for the Xbox 360 to enthusiast reviewers, those fans who don’t work for a gaming website, but still put their opinions out there in some formal capacity. It’s one of the more interesting marketing tactics I’ve seen.

Oh, and by the way, the original Fallout is available completely free on GOG. Right now. So get on that.
