The Witcher 2 Takes On A Golden Hue

The Witcher 2 Takes On A Golden Hue

One of my personal favorite games of 2011, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings was a polished, gorgeous and entertaining romp through the dark and ugly fantasy world of Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski’s creation. Originally written of in short stories and books, it is a land in which true good is rare and even the best of men have selfish and short-sighted intentions. Players take the role of long-running protagonist (anti-hero?) Geralt of Rivia and guide him through a post-amnesiac journey that sees him both slaying monsters and addressing political unrest.

Now the Xbox 360 version of the game—retooled to take advantage of its specific hardware and containing new features, including a new cinematic opening and extra adventures in previously unseen locales—has gone gold. Alongside it, its content will be released for the PC as well, in an Enhanced Edition of the base game, available freely to those who have already purchased it.

Both The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings for Xbox 360 and the Enhanced Edition for the PC will be out April 17.
