CES Is The Official Convention Of Thieves

The Consumer Electronic Show is a great place to check out new technology that will hit the market in the next few years. However, this year it also seems to be the place to fill your pockets with stolen items.

Many of the vendors at CES began reporting thefts shortly after the show opened. Most of the incidents were small, involving either theft of cheap materials or personal belongings. However, Unirex, has reported that its booth was actually broken into overnight, taking several audio systems and other products. At night, the booths were supposed to be protected by security guards. Currently, the thief has not been caught, however the guards say it was possible that one of the cleaning staff was responsible.

If you think that’s bad, GoPro had their products stolen in broad daylight. Last Thursday, they had a huge giveaway at their booth that attracted a massive crowd. In the midst of this rush, someone managed to wipe one of their displays clean of camera accessories, amounting to nearly five hundred dollars in stolen goods.

Cobra, a company that sells police radars and two way radios, also said that an iPod touch was stolen from their booth. Though the iPod was tethered to a case, the case was simply broken and the iPod was removed.
