Lewis Bennett III, 14, helped to avert a “Columbine-style” high school shooting at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School last year by telling his parents and authorities that Dillon Cossey was planning the crime. Young Mr. Bennett was praised for his action not only by law enforcement, school officials, and the community at large, but President Bush also called him a “hero.”
According to Bennett’s lawyer, the media circus that ensued proved to be too much for the teenager. As a result, Bennett recently broke into the Cossey home along with another friend and stole an Xbox 360, iPod, and air guns. The boys were later caught trying to sell the stolen goods at school. |
