Microtransactions pop up in shooters often enough. Battlefield 1, Gears of War 4, Overwatch, and Call of Duty: Black Ops III are a few recent games that offer opportunities to pay for little extras and niceties. Naturally, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has them too. Unfortunately, Infinite Warfare’ s Supply Drop microtransactions offer weapon variants you can’t get anywhere else.
Charlie Intel has discovered a QR-M5TR Collection in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’ s Supply Drops. There are 12 in the screenshot they’ve offered, with these variants only available via Supply Drops and Zombie Crates. Supply Drops require keys, which you earn via playing, to open, or you can pay real money to open one quickly. It’s 10 keys for a standard crate and 30 for a rare one, by the way.
This is disappointing, since Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare variant weapons aren’t cosmetic. They’re actually different weapons that even require you to reach certain levels to use. That some people might have an edge from one of these guns and could pay to acquire one is disappointing.
