Croagunk Gunks up the Competition in Pokken Tournament

Croagunk Gunks up the Competition in Pokken Tournament

Following its tepid reception in North America, Pokken Tournament may have left your radar, but the arcade version of the game continues to receive substantial updates over in Japan. Back in July, infamously frustrating Dark-type Darkrai was added to the roster, followed by Bug/Steel-type Scizor on October 20. These two have breathed some new life into Pokken ‘s comparatively small roster, and it’s set to expand once again, as the Poison/Fighting-type Croagunk has been announced as the next playable fighter. His moveset looks comical, befitting his role in the Pokemon anime series. In the preview video below, you can watch as he throws effortless punches and lazes on the ground when idle, taunting his opponent. Smug little guy, isn’t he?

The question remains of whether Croagunk and the other two new fighters will make their way to the Wii U version of the game. We’re betting that they will, especially if Nintendo decides to retool Pokken Tournament for the Switch— it would be a perfect opportunity to introduce new players to the game. For me, the console version’s biggest shortcoming was the way it forced one person to use the Wii U Gamepad as their screen during offline multiplayer. I’m not sure this is something a Switch version could address, but if it did, I know I’d be there on day one.
