Dead Or Alive 5 Plus And New Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus Are Heading To The Vita

Tecmo Koei announced today, via press release, that the Dead or Alive series will make its way to the PS Vita. Dead or Alive 5 Plus (working title) will be released in the first quarter of 2013.

According to Tecmo, the new DoA title will make use of the Vita’s touch controls. Taps, swipes, and pinches will supposedly devastate your opponent. In addition, a first person camera mode was announced. Additional training modes will also be available, allowing you to hone your skill on the go.

In addition, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus will be launching in the same time frame. The portable Gaiden title will include two new modes called “Ninja Race,” which is a ninja racing mode, and “Tag Mission,” which allows you to switch between two ninjas while defending a computer controlled ally.

“Dead or Alive 5 Plus and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus both bring the art of combat alive with graphics that rival any console game alongside tight controls designed to fully harness the power of the PS Vita,” said Yosuke Hayashi, Team NINJA leader. “Whether unleashing martial arts moves or striking down enemies as a deadly ninja, players will discover that handheld gaming has never looked—or played—better.”

If these titles can match the quality of their console counterparts, then Vita owners have something to look forward to early next year.
