Dead Rising 3 Won’t Be Released in Germany

Dead Rising 3 Won’t Be Released in Germany

It turns out that Dead Rising 3 is just a bit too violent for some nations. Germany, in particular, will not be launching Dead Rising 3 as a day-one title for the Xbox One, as the title was not able to obtain an age rating by the BPjM (Bundeprüfstelle für jugendgefährende Medien), the country’s entertainment software self-regulation body.

As of now, it’s not clear if the game won’t launch in Germany at all. Capcom and Microsoft always have the ability to censor the game in order to make it fall in line with German ratings classifications. For now, it’s just clear that the game won’t be part of the Xbox One’s launch lineup. Here’s what Microsoft had to say about the situation.

“While Microsoft is disappointed with this decision, we respect the views of the review panel and have withdrawn Dead Rising 3 from Germany’s Xbox One launch line-up. Dead Rising 3 will still be available in all other launch markets on 22 November 2013. Beyond that, we have no further comment.”

Then again both Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2 were denied classification in the past. So at least we know it’s not Dead Rising 3’s grittier new aesthetic that is keeping it out of German hands.
