Diablo III Gives Wary Gamers A Sneak Peek

None

Interested in Diablo III, but for whatever reason apprehensive enough about the title to hold off on a day-one purchase? If you have friends hounding you to play it, Blizzard appears to have you covered. The Diablo III Starter Edition is a real thing, available to players who either get a guest pass from a friend or who can wait the thirty days it will take from launch until the Starter Edition opens up to everyone.

Now, it’s not without its limitations. Those who are playing the Starter Edition of Diablo III will only be able to play up to level 13 and through part of the first act of the game. Most telling, though, is that these free players will only be able to pair up with other free players, segregated from the paying masses. Lastly, they will have no access to the Real Money Auction House, so the free accounts won’t be viable as a means of exploiting it. For those with Guest Passes, the Starter Edition opens its doors the same day at the main game, Tuesday, May 15.
