In a launch flooded with controversy, Diablo III still managed to hit hard with big numbers and, already, a vibrant community has sprung up around the long-awaited hack ‘n’ slash dungeon-crawler. Paradise has been flawed since day one, however, with a rocky server situation and high-level balance issues. Many of these are issues that Blizzard has either fixed or begun work on, but there are some problems that are intentional, and smack of a strange thought process at the long-running developer. Last week, Blizzard rolled out the Real Money Auction House. Some players, me included, were met with a message when they tried to switch over to the RMAH that stated that digital purchases of the game were to have a three-day waiting period before they could access it. Over five days later, with no access in sight, I changed my password, authenticated my account, and was able to switch over. This may have been tied to, or at least a precursor to, today’s news: Diablo III digital purchases, from here on out, will have up to a three-day waiting period (depending on how long it takes to review and verify the account). ![]()
