Diablo III Reaches Over Ten Million Players

Diablo III Reaches Over Ten Million Players

None

According to an Activision quarterly earnings statement, Diablo III had more than ten million players at the end of last month. They call Diablo III the best-selling PC game for the first six months of 2012, an oddly specific title, but it’s still quite an achievement. Of these over ten million sales, 3.5 million were made within the first 24 hours, and 1.2 million were made through the sale of the World of Warcraft Annual Pass.

What’s great about Diablo is that it doesn’t need the support itself through monthly subscription fees like World of Warcraft does. In fact, some may say that Diablo actually leeches off of World of Warcraft’s success money. That’s not a bad thing, mind you. It just means that you get two awesome RPGs but you only have to subscribe to one.

Speaking of World of Warcraft, the Mists of Pandaria expansion is coming out soon, and there are some special Diablo rewards for pre-ordering it.
