Evolve Trailer Reveals New Monster, Dev Announces Xbox One Open Beta

Evolve developer Turtle Rock Studios, along with its publisher, 2K Games, has announced an upcoming Open Beta for its asymmetric squad-based shooter, which is currently slated to occur on the Xbox One, starting on Thursday, January 15 next year.

Lasting for about four days, Xbox One users will be allowed to participate in Evolve’s Open Beta from the starting point up until Monday, January 19. During the Open Beta, you’ll be able to play Evolve’s “Hunt” and “Evacuation” game modes, and it’s reported that you’ll unlock new Monsters and Monsters along the way, too.

As the icing on the cake, any progress gained during Evolve’s Open Beta will also be carried on over when the game fully releases. Additionally, along with the Open Beta announcement, Evolve will also feature an offline mode, Turtle Rock Studios has confirmed, which will allow you to play as a Monster or a Hunter in any of Evolve’s gamemodes (which will be available for offline play). However, this feature will not be available during the game’s Open Beta.

What’s more is that a new monster has been revealed for Evolve , too: the “Wraith”. A stealthy monster, she stalks her way throughout the battlefield, using decoys and fast movement to through off Hunters. Wraith will also be available as part of Evolve’s Monster Expansion Pack, which comes as a bonus if you pre-order the game.

You can watch Wraith’s reveal trailer via the embedded video below, accompanied with some gameplay footage of her in action, too. We’ll bring you more news on Evolve should further information reach our ear. The game is currently slated to release on Tuesday, February 10 next year for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
