Information has leaked regarding the creation of the most ambitious and secretive video game ever conceived. It involves all the major players in the gaming industry. Called Existal, it will take a lifetime to play. The technologies developed specifically for this game will revolutionize not only the gaming industry but civilization in general. All dramatics aside, Existal is an undertaking of phenomenal proportions. It will involve tens of thousands of developers alongside such corporate gaming giants as Microsoft, Sony, Disney Interactive, EA, Capcom, and Nintendo. Existal will include a blend of all genres including action adventure, role-playing, puzzles, platforming, strategy, combat, first-person shooter and sports. The storyline revolves around a character that you create and continue to develop throughout his or her virtual lifetime. The game is played in real-time so it will take all of 13 years before the character can be considered a teenager, although it’s rumored that middle-aged players can speed up the aging process so they don’t die before they complete the game. It’s hoped that Existal is the last game that players will ever have to buy. It will include anything and everything to keep players challenged and satisfied. Infinite branching paths will ensure players can lead their characters in pursuits that interest them such as a career in sports, or an outer space adventure. They can also explore and experiment with other genres by following the various side-quests that will always be available. It’s purported that the game can be played every minute of every day for twenty years and never encounter the same game twice. Existal has been in development for eight years. The completion date is 2012. A new console system will be required to facilitate the software. It will not be compatible on any other system including the PC. A developer on the project claims that Existal uses military technology, and that civilian technology including the internet is much too archaic for a game of this magnitude. “We are inventing a new tech-universe from the ground up,” says a developer that wishes to remain anonymous. “Military technology is 40-years advanced than civilian technology, and we have been fortunate enough to get our hands on it. Just look at the team we’ve amassed. Most of these companies are responsible for the development of these technologies. You won’t believe what this game is going to be capable of. We actually have computers that surpass human intelligence. They are sentient and can convey emotions. There is talk that Existal will eventually become the new reality,” he concludes. Existal will not come cheap. The complete system is priced at more than ten thousand dollars, but according to sources that’s just an upfront cost not unlike an investment. Money is actually returned to the player as an incentive as he or she progresses throughout the game. It’s possible to even earn a living playing Existal by completing tasks, winning sporting events, destroying aliens, and entering into virtual poker tournaments. It’s even claimed that virtual marriages can take place with legally binding contracts.
