Experienced MMO Devs Tease New Project: Crowfall

ArtCraft Entertainment, headed by former Star Wars: The Old Republic and Shadowbane creators, Gordon Walton and J. Todd Coleman respectively, has unveiled its first game titled Crowfall , an ambitious project that’s described as a “next generation” MMO with a particular focus on political alliances and feudal conquest.

The game’s name was revealed when its official website was launched. Before the name change to crowfall.com , the website was just a sign-up page under the name Play2Crush, according to Coleman, which was largely a manifesto that left much to the imagination. Even though the site featured no screenshots or even the name of the game itself, the sign-up page garnered 10,000 registrations. ” We are blown away by the response,” Coleman added.  “We clearly struck a nerve.”

Now that the website’s name has been changed and has officially launched, players are invited to join the new Crowfall community and sign up for promised Beta tests of the game. While ArtCraft Entertainment welcomes players to Crowfall , Walton notes that the game isn’t for everyone. According to him, Crowfall is an MMO meant for “players who are looking for a more immersive, more visceral experience.”

Further information on Crowfall will be shared between now and late February. During that time, Coleman teased that the studio will play a little game of its own called rampant speculation . ArtCraft Entertainment will be deliberately dropping “hints, screenshots, images, videos, and storylines” to see how long it’ll take for the fledgling Crowfall community to figure out what the studio’s breadcrumbs all lead up to. With these little hints and tidbits, Coleman explained that the new developer is hoping to “[paint] a picture in broad strokes.” While vague, it’s implied that the snippets of information will be coherent enough to connect dots with, even if said dots are completely wrong.

At the end of this countdown (which is visually displayed on the game’s website), an announcement will be shared with the Crowfall community. For now, not much is known about the MMO at all, other than its genre, its title, the developer and people behind it and some images. However, ArtCraft Entertainment’s main goal is to “push the design of Massively Multiplayer Online games in bold new directions.”
