Gamescom 2011: Every Vita Game Will Have Download Option

None

The PSP Go was an early attempt at making a handheld console that operated entirely off of digital distribution. There was, unfortunately, one serious problem with it: its game library. You weren’t guaranteed access to every PSP game when you bought a PSP Go. Some games were released on disc only, and since the PSP Go didn’t have a disc drive, these games were forever lost to Go owners. In short, this fissure in the game library contributed to the PSP Go’s eventual failure.

Now the PS Vita is coming out, and it too will have the capability to download full games from the PSN store. However, this time around Sony has learned their lesson, as they have recently announced that every single PlayStation Vita game will be available as a downloadable title. In fact, more Vita games will be available as downloadable titles than as hard copies. Only select titles will be available on Vita memory cards, but even these can then be installed directly to the handheld system.
