Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is almost here. As such, contests, launch centers, sweeps, advertisements, controversy, viral marketing, leaks, and more have been unleashed upon the gaming world and beyond. While the constant barrage may seem a bit unnecessary – we’re all going to buy this game anyway – it may just translate into the “biggest entertainment launch of all time”. In fact, this is exactly what GameStop’s Executive Vice President for Merchandising and Marketing, Tony Bartel told USA Today: “By all indicators, we anticipate Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be the biggest entertainment launch of all time. As of today, the number of pre-order reservations we’ve taken for the game is the highest for any title we’ve ever sold in our 6,200 store network.” Wedbush Securities’ Michael Pachter predicts that this game could sell nearly 10 million copies by the end of the year, grossing over $500 million in sales.
