Garry’s Mod Is 10 Million Strong and Growing

Garry’s Mod Is 10 Million Strong and Growing

Sometimes, you look at these goofy Steam “games” and wonder how well they actually do. After all, some of them are based on fan mods, others purposely leave bugs and glitches in, and many are designed to sell just because they’re weird. Many would consider Garry’s Mod one of “those” games, but the joke’s on them. Over 10 million copies of the game have been sold.

The milestone was reached during the most recent Steam sale, just as 2016 began. Garry Newman took to Twitter to tell people that the ten millionth copy of Garry’s Mod had moved. Which is amazing, because this is a game that was originally released on its own in 2006. That it would reach 10 million units sold after almost ten years is pretty amazing. Garry’s Mod is a physics sandbox. You generate items, play with them, and enjoy. This can be done alone or with friends. It even has Steam Workshop support, so people can customize it. That it’s constantly growing is probably one of the reasons for its longevity.

Windows, Mac, and Linux versions of Garry’s Mod are available for $9.99. You should probably wait until another Steam sale to grab it, as it was $2.49 during the last one.
