We’ve had about a year to sit on the original E3 reveal of Gears of War 4, but our patience has paid off. Gears of War 4 is set to release on October 11. Apparently the entire games takes place over “one night in the woods,” which leads me to believe that we’ll likely be playing some flashback sequences, especially considering Marcus Fenix makes an appearance and the game takes place 25 years after the events of the original trilogy. This time around you’ll be controlling Marcus’ son JD Fenix, joined by Kait and Del (all pictured above), as they take on a new threat and a new foe.
October 11 seems far away – we’ll be playing Final Fantasy XV by then! – but you won’t have to wait that long play Gears of War 4 multiplayer. In fact, if you can wait a couple of weeks you can try out the new Gears multiplayer for free! An open multiplayer beta will begin on April 25 for all Xbox Live Gold members, and will run until May 1. If you bought and played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition you can start playing the beta early on April 18. As far as I know, it’s not too late to buy GoW: Ultimate Edition if you want to be eligible for early access, so if you’re a huge fan you might consider it.
