Gears of War has always been known for its strong characters, story-driven narrative, and over-the-top combat. There was always a solid multiplayer component, though, and some of my fondest “next-gen” experiences were watching my best friend play Gears online before I got my 360. With such a dedicated following, I’m sure many of you are dying to get your hands on Gears of War 4 as soon as possible. Lucky for you, there’s a multiplayer beta taking place next month. If you’re a Gears fan there’s a good chance you can get early access, too. Here’s the deal:
The open beta kicks off on April 25. However, if you’ve played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One or Windows 10, you’re eligible to receive tokens for early access to the beta. The early access period begins on April 18, so that gives you a full week of play time before the rest of the world. In case you’re wondering if it’s too late to take advantage of that offer, Major Nelson updated his blog with some good news. In his post he said, “We’re extending the timeframe for Gears of War: Ultimate Edition players to qualify for early access to the Gears of War 4 beta from March 1 to April 11.” That means you have up to a week before the early access period to qualify.
