Go To Real Jail For Stealing In-Game Items In China

Two digital thieves have been sentenced to prison terms for stealing items in an MMO. These two men come from China’s Sichuan province. They stole the Dungeon Fighters Online login information of a player known as Mr. Ma, and sold all of his items on the virtual marketplace to the tune of $6,405. The two perpetrators were soon caught by the police and are now facing a two year prison sentence and must pay fines for their cybertheft.

Crime, even cybercrime, doesn’t pay. I certainly wouldn’t want to be sent to real prison for stealing someone’s login info. Imagine if this happened to the Diablo III marketplace thieves that ran rampant in the game only a few years ago.
