Gran Turismo 5 looks like it’s set for release in 2009. After a playable demo of the game made a surprise appearance at Gamescom 2009, GT Planet has confirmed, via shots taken from the media event, that Gran Turismo 5 will be making its way to the PS3 in Q4 2009. IGN also points out that leaflets were being passed around the event that made the same claim. Moreover, limited details were made known: “1,000 cars make the cut, with electric cars faithfully represented, while 20 courses are available, drivable in 60 different layouts.” Finally, online leaderboards as well as real-time damage modeling (which has been very difficult for Polyphony Digital to incorporate) were confirmed at the presser as well as in the game demo.
