Grasshopper Manufacture Meets Evangelion

Grasshopper Manufacture Meets Evangelion

None

Are you a Neon Genesis Evangelion fan? Do you enjoy the works of Goichi Suda (Suda 51), the eccentric mind behind Killer 7 and No More Heroes? If you answered yes to both questions, then there’s only one more that need be asked: How’s your sense of rhythm?

According to Andriasang, Grasshopper Manufacture is putting together two great tastes and hoping they taste great together. The Suda 51-headed studio is making a PSP rhythm action title set in the dystopian and traumatic world of Neon Genesis Evangelion, titled Rebuild of Evangelion Sound Impact.

Of course, this is not Goichi Suda’s first anime-based game, nor his first that uses music as a crucial component. Samurai Champloo: Sidetracked was based on the anime of the same name. This game used a combat system that was influenced by the record one had playing in the background at any given time, allowing a player to switch between distinct combo trees on the fly.

The new Evangelion game, currently only due for release in Japan, will have six different rhythm-based games comprising over 30 tracks and is based on the Rebuild of Evangelion film series. It is due for release on September 29 and comes in three editions: the game by itself, game with soundtrack and special sleeve case, and very special edition that also includes a T-shirt and headphones.
