Suda 51, Kojima Shoot For Cyberpunk

None

Goichi Suda, long known for his eccentric and stylistic games (which often qualify more as “experiences” than games), has been collaborating with some of the greatest minds in gaming of late. Hot on the heels of his partnership with Resident Evil and Devil May Cry producer Shinji Mikami, which begot Shadows of the Damned, Suda 51 is pairing up with Metal Gear Solid’s Hideo Kojima. The project, though, is something no one could have predicted.

Before he gained worldwide fame for his twisting, turning Metal Gear Solid series, Kojima was the mind behind cyberpunk opus Snatcher, which was released on the PC-8801 in Japan over twenty years ago in 1988. The title was ported to many systems, though it was only ever released in English on the much-maligned Sega CD, back in 1994. A cult favorite, fans have long petitioned for a sequel to the cyberpunk-inspired adventure.

As part of Project S, Sdatcher is a new radio drama directed by Kojima with a script from Goichi Suda. Furthermore, Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka will be aiding Suda 51 with the script, collaborating with Konami for the first time since he resigned and joined Grasshopper Manufacture in 2009.

There isn’t any word, yet, on what else will be involved in Project S, or whether this drama will get an English-language release, but Snatcher fans should definitely keep their eyes peeled for more info.
