Halo: Reach to Outsell Black Ops

Halo: Reach to Outsell Black Ops

None

While you can go to just about any forum and find two fanboys vehemently arguing about whose favorite game is the best, this kind of mentality can also leak into the more professional aspects of the game industry. A good example of this comes in the form of the recent statements made by Xbox Europe’s Stephen McGill to Eurogamer. While not exactly the psychotic rantings you’d get from a forum argument, he does make a pretty bold claim.

When asked if he believed that Halo: Reach would outsell Call of Duty: Black Ops he responded “It’s going to be a really good fight and yes I do [believe it].” He quickly followed that up with “We have huge expectations.” Even so, Joystiq got some comments from EEDAR analyst Jesse Divnich that would seem to rain on his parade. Divnich states “Both titles will be mammoths, but claiming that Halo: Reach will outsell Call of Duty is aggressively optimistic. Simply put, it’s not happening.” That statement may seem harsh, but due to Reach being a console exclusive while Black Ops is not, it would seem as though the odds would be stacked against the upcoming Halo title selling more copies overall.
