Yesterday afternoon, Sony confirmed via the official PlayStation Blog that HBO GO would finally be coming to both the PS3 and PS4 consoles later this year. HBO CEO Richard Plepler initially announced this news during the Buzzfeed Brews event in New York City earlier in the day.
HBO GO is widely known as the popular app that allows HBO subscribers to gain unlimited, on-demand access to their favorite HBO shows, movies, documentaries and behind-the-scenes specials. The app previously launched on the Xbox 360 a while back and has since proven to be a certifiable hit with fans. It is currently unclear if this service will be coming to the Xbox One, but I would be very surprised if we don’t get confirmation on this soon.
With HBO GO finally coming to both PlayStation consoles, Sony succeeds in showing their commitment to offering their customers other entertainment options besides gaming. While no release date has been given yet, you can rest assured that Sony will keep fans in the loop as to when this app will finally be available for download.
