Detective Pikachu is the latest Nintendo 3DS import darling, even though it hasn’t been released yet. It’s all because of the lead character, a Pikachu detective who can actually speak. He solves crimes with the help of a teenager. A localization hasn’t been announced yet, but people want Danny DeVito to be Pikachu.
The Detective Pikachu fan petition that people hope to present to Nintendo was created two days ago, in the hopes 15,000 people would sign. It’s passed 11,500 signatures since last night.
While DeVito doesn’t exactly sound like the Japanese actor in the trailer, he has the proper gruffness to pull this off. Besides, he’s played a lawyer before in The Rainmaker!
