Is Sony Making a DualShock 4 Adapter for PC?

The good people over at DualShockers have been doing some pretty impressive sleuthing. They’ve uncovered an FCC certification filing from Sony Interactive Entertainment for a wireless adapter. The fact that it has been labeled as a “wireless adapter” and has a 5 V power supply leads us to believe that it’s a USB adapter. Additional documentation detailing the products radio specifications reveal that it will be a Bluetooth device of some kind. What on earth could this be used for?

The DualShockers detectives would like to bring our attention to the product code: CUH-ZWA1U. The “CUH” code is used for PS4 hardware and accessories, while the Z in the beginning of the second identifier is normally associated with controllers. DualShock 4 controllers, and even PlayStation Move controllers, already connect wirelessly via Bluetooth, so that leads us to believe that the adapter won’t be for the PS4 – it could be for the PC instead. This seems to make the most sense, considering the novelty of PS4 / PC streaming and Microsoft playing up the compatibility of Xbox One consoles and PCs in the future. Plus, it’d just be nice to have the option to use our DS4 controllers to play PC games; we’ve been able to use Xbox controllers for a long time now, and Sony has some catching up to do in that department. We’ll keep an eye on this one and keep you guys updated with any new developments or announcements.
